DanceWorks Chicago, in partnership with the new Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts), will be part of a workshop for prospective students and their parents being offered to answer questions about the school and provide guidance on how to prepare for auditions. ChiArts is a four-year college preparatory public high school opening in September 2009, with an initial class of 150 freshmen. ChiArts will offer an academic curriculum combined with professional instruction in dance, drama, music, and visual arts. Eighth grade students and their parents can learn more about the auditon and admission process by attending a workshop on Monday, November 10, 2008, at the Joy Faith Knapp Music Center, 38 South Peoria, Chicago. The workshop will be accompanied by a special information session for parents or guardians about ChiArts. The dance information session will be held from 11:15am to 12:15pm. This workshop will provide a discussion on the class format for each dance area: ballet, contemporary, and novice. Suggestions on how to prepare for the solo dance, what to wear, and how to be successful in the class will be covered. The workshop is free, but registration is required. To register, call 773.535.8681 or e-mail chsa2009@hotmail.com. For more information visit www.chiarts.org or call 312.924.3495.
